The Texas Education Agency (TEA) shall administer each assessment instrument under Texas Education Code (TEC), §39.023(a), (b), (c), and (l), in accordance with the rules governing the assessment program set forth in Chapter 101. Test administration procedures shall be established by the TEA in the applicable test administration materials. A school district, an open-enrollment charter school, or a private school administering the tests required by TEC, Chapter 39, Subchapter B, shall follow procedures specified in the applicable test administration materials. In accordance with TEC, §39.023(a)(5), the TEA shall administer to students assessments in any other subject and grade required by federal law. If a student is present on testing day, following the Slocum ISD District Assessment Calendar, the student will be placed in their testing room and offered the assessment.
Texas public schools, including all in Slocum ISD, require students to take STAAR 3-8. These tests are RLA and Math for 3-8, Science in grades 5 and 8, and Social Studies in grade 8. Texas public schools, including all in Slocum ISD, require students to take all five STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) tests as outlined in TEC §101.3021. These tests are for Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology and U.S. History. The five tests are graduation requirements.
