Parents and Guardians of Slocum ISD Students,

The report of a positive COVID-19 virus by an employee was inaccurate.  However, given the seriousness of the report, we felt it necessary to take timely precautions for the protection of all students, staff, and community members.  Those precautions are:

  • verifying the report of a positive COVID-19 test

  • not allowing admittance into Slocum ISD buildings by employees

  • halting food delivery and pickup

  • disinfecting facilities before faculty reenters for essential activities.

Rest assured, our main objective during these difficult times is the health and safety of students, staff, and community members.

Our plan going forward is to make sure our facilities are as safe as possible for employees to return when necessary to facilitate distance learning for our students. Food service and packet delivery will resume on Tuesday, April 14.  Packet deliveries will no longer be done with lunch delivery vehicles.  Even though we will continue to assist families with packet pickup and delivery when needed, we request that you make every effort to pick up and drop off packets when scheduled.

We apologize for any undue worry that this event has caused you and your family.  Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Thank you and God Bless,

Slocum ISD Administration
