What a way to end the school year!!!  Graduation...State Softball Championship...State Baseball Championship!!!  The Lady Mustang Softball Team and the Mustang Baseball Team took us on two magical rides this year.  The Lady Mustangs and Coach David Ives won their second straight state title, going BACK TO BACK!!!  The Mustangs and Coach Bryant Latham won the school's first ever baseball title in their very first appearance at the State Tournament.  I'm so proud of our players and coaches for their hard work, dedication, and for the way they represented Slocum High School and the Slocum Community.

I am certainly proud of our cross country teams as each team that entered won district.  I am even more proud of the way our athletes and other student spectators showed great sportsmanship in cheering on and congratulating athletes from other schools when there weren't a lot of fans from their own schools to cheer for them.  I'm so proud to be a MUSTANG!  Good luck to the high school boys and girls cross country teams as they compete in the regional meet in Corpus Christi.

The high school is off to a fast and furious start this school year. We are almost to the end of the first six weeks. Teachers are creating a positive learning environment and the students are stepping up to the challenges of learning. The Leadership Class is raising funds to donate to Rockport High School for when they begin rebuilding after Hurricane Harvey. Thank you to the community for participating.
A very special CONGRATULATIONS to our 2017 Texas State Champion Softball Team and to Coach David Ives and Assistant Coach Julie Neel on a season well played.

We have certainly had an excellent start to the school year.  I am filled with excitement about what 2017-2018 holds for our students.  Our enrollment for grades PK-12 is 424.

The end of the first semester has come and gone. The school year is passing so quickly! The high school is gearing up for Academic UIL that will take place at the end of March at Navarro Junior College. Our regular season basketball is coming to an end and we are looking forward to the playoffs! The softball and baseball teams have begun practicing and the weather for practice has been perfect. Again, I would like to thank the community members for this spectacular new high school. The students have gone above and beyond in all aspects of our learning environment from meeting the high expectations we have set academically as well as for behavior. I cannot say it enough...we have GREAT kids!

January is School Board Appreciation Month.  We certainly do appreciate our board members and the time and effort they volunteer to make sure Slocum ISD remains a leader in education and a great asset to the Slocum Community.

We will have a Grand Opening for the New High School on Tuesday evening, November 15.  This is the night of our first home games for high school.  FFA/FCCLA will be having a fish fry, so come hungry.  Games will start early that evening, but we will have a time of recognition before the Varsity Girls game, probably between 5:30 and 6:00.
