SCHOOL SAFETY:  The safety of all of our students is of extreme importance.  It is so important to stay alert and report things that could be a potential risk.  Students, parents, employees and community members all have a part in keeping our school safe.  With that being said:  IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!  Report suspicious activity to local law enforcement or to school officials.  Let's work together in keeping our school and our community a safe place.

Once again we've had a busy start to the school year! Academic UIL is prepping, SJH basketball has started, and SHS hosted the first cross country meet of the year. The students, and teachers, have settled in and are finishing the first three weeks of school already. Fun times! I look forward to the academic growth of all students and meeting the challenges of the school year head on. We expect great accomplishments from our students and will help them succeed along the way..

Beginning of the Year Letter

It is so fun to watch the students get back into the swing of things at school, proud of their backpacks and school supplies, seeing old friends and meeting new ones, and beginning the challenge of a new grade level of learning. I encourage you, parents, to start the year out by spending some time with your children, going over their daily work, reading with them, and just talking about their days.We know you want the best for your children and we do, too. Our teachers are already hard at work, planning and preparing lessons for their classes, and we are looking forward to a successful and satisfying year. Let us know if we can do anything to help your child.

The holidays are already upon us and school just began!!

Our Seniors have taken the reigns this year and are off to a super start of college acceptances!! We have students who have been accepted to Texas A&M Bryan College Station and Commerce, Baylor University, University of Texas at San Antonio, SFASHSUTJC and more!!

The high school students have amped up school spirit this year with the SHS Cheerleaders leading the way! Support from the student section is amazing and the kids have been super!
Travis and Courtney led the way with State CC appearances and we are moving on from there!

As usual, the kids and teachers are working hard in the classrooms and students are passing the TSI for entrance into our college program. We like to work hard, play hard, The harder you work, the more prepared you will be for a given situation whether it is academic, athletic, personal or one of those "life lessons". The more effort and energy you put into your work time will pay off and you will be able to enjoy your play time, or off time, more thoroughly.

We LOVE Slocum High School! Time flies when you're having fun!

As we enter into this season of Thanksgiving, let me express my gratitude for living in a community of honest and hardworking people that truly care about each other.  Slocum is a great place to live because of the people that make up this great community.

What a way to end the school year!!!  Graduation...State Softball Championship...State Baseball Championship!!!  The Lady Mustang Softball Team and the Mustang Baseball Team took us on two magical rides this year.  The Lady Mustangs and Coach David Ives won their second straight state title, going BACK TO BACK!!!  The Mustangs and Coach Bryant Latham won the school's first ever baseball title in their very first appearance at the State Tournament.  I'm so proud of our players and coaches for their hard work, dedication, and for the way they represented Slocum High School and the Slocum Community.
